Telemedicine Visits
Summit Family and Sports Medicine now offers telemedicine visits for patients who are unable to attend the office due to concerns over coronavirus. Please contact the scheduling department to make a telemedicine appointment.
What you can expect during the visit:
A nurse will contact you at the time of the visit by phone. The nurse will take your history and work through various questions related to any health issues you are experiencing. Once the nurse has completed the visit, you will be asked to use any smart phone or computer with a webcam to click on your providers name listed at the bottom of this page. Once you click the link, you will be asked to enter your name and then will be placed in a waiting room. Once your provider is ready, they will enter the room and you will be able to communicate by voice and video chat.
Telemedicine visits are billed just like a regular office visit. The provider may need to have xrays or lab work done and will let you know how to safely come to the office to receive these services.
If you have any trouble accessing the telemedicine links, please call 816-842-4440 and ask to be transferred to either Jamie Stevens or Vince Shisler.

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination
Has Summit Family and Sports Medicine started giving any COVID-19 vaccinations?
For those interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, please continue to check back on this page for more information about our next shipment dates
Does Summit Family and Sports Medicine offer COVID-19 testing?
Yes. At this time, our offices currently offer the COVID-19 PCR Swab test to those experiencing symptoms and the COVID-19 Antibody (IgG) test to any patient requesting the service.
Upon calling our office to schedule a testing, patients will answer a series of screening questions to determine the location of their testing.
At Summit Family and Sports Medicine, our highest priority is your health and safety. As your healthcare partner, we understand the concern and anxiety you may feel about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Kansas City metro area.
If you are experiencing symptoms or have questions about exposure to the virus, we ask that you first call 816-285-5053 and speak to our trained medical staff. Our staff and providers will be available during normal clinic hours to answer questions and assist you with scheduling an appointment, if necessary.
At this time, we are still continuing to see all currently scheduled, routine chronic care follow-up appointments, new sick visits and non-urgent appointments. Even at a time of home sheltering, routine healthcare should not be deferred or neglected. You can feel comfortable coming into the clinic as we have taken extensive steps to isolate patients who we suspect to be infected or exposed to COVID-19/Coronavirus.
In an effort to better accommodate patients, phone or virtual video-audio visits may be used to handle these appointments. If your medical needs are such that we can safely manage through a virtual visit using video and audio we can work with you to connect you with your provider from home.
Thank you for your trust and support as we continue to keep our focus on the health and safety of you and your family.
Symptoms? Please call ahead.
If you are concerned, or suspect you may have COVID-19, please call our office (816-285-5053) for direction. If you are experiencing urgent symptoms or are in distress, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department immediately.
It’s important to note that COVID-19 is one of a number of viruses in the coronavirus family. Some coronaviruses cause illness as mild as the common cold, while others have caused more severe illnesses, such as SARS and MERS.
What happens if you have symptoms and meet the other criteria in the screening?
If you or a loved one have symptoms and meet at least one of the criteria above, several things will happen:
- We will ask you and anyone accompanying you to wear a mask before entering our clinics or facilities.
- For your comfort, and for the safety of other patients, you will be moved to a private room or placed in isolation.
- We will immediately notify local and state health agencies, who will provide further guidance to confirm or rule out COVID-19
How can I protect myself from COVID-19?
It’s important with COVID-19—and any respiratory illness that may be circulating, including the flu—to follow a number of common-sense measures to reduce chances of being exposed to illness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend:
- Washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom, before eating, and after sneezing, coughing or blowing your nose
- Avoiding close contact with people who are ill
- Avoiding touching your face—including eyes, nose and mouth
- Staying home when sick
- Covering coughs or sneezes with a tissue and then throwing the tissue in the trash
- Regularly cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces
Our COVID-19 procedure and guidance has come from the CDC.
